EIPGRID, a leading energy community service and solutions provider, specializing in the Virtual Power Plant domain, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Naresuan University’s School of Renewable Energy and Smart Grid Technology (SGtech), for joint research in the field of virtual Smart Grid management. The MoU was officially signed on June 29th in Seoul, South Korea, during a ceremony where the two parties solidified their longstanding partnership and formalized an international collaboration in the sphere of smart grid and energy innovation.
As per the agreement, the parties will establish a dedicated Virtual Smart Grid Lab whose primary focus will be the research and development of cutting-edge technology and techniques in the smart grid domain, particularly in virtual smart grid management. This collaborative lab will serve as a crucial platform for the development and commercialization of innovative solutions and functionalities, addressing the various challenges arising in the energy market due to climate change and geopolitical circumstances.
SGtech, as part of one of the top government universities in Thailand, since its establishment in 1995, has been at the forefront of Thailand’s energy technology research and development meeting the needs of the country in the areas of Renewable Energy and Carbon Neutrality, Smart Grid, Smart City and Digital Innovation. In this joint project, SGtech will contribute its extensive knowledge and expertise in the ASEAN digital energy sector, providing guidance and coordination with stakeholders.
EIPGRID, recognized as Asia's energy management leader, has been active in the energy industry since 2010 and is boasting a proven track-record in developing customized solutions tailored to the laws, regulations, and market requirements of each country. For this particular collaboration, EIPGRID will integrate its software and hardware with SGtech for demonstration purposes, and facilitate knowledge transfer and customized training courses for the ASEAN digital energy stakeholders.

Naresuan University’s President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarintip Tantanee commented “We are delighted to enter into this agreement which will expand our University’s horizons by advancing the smart grid technology research and development through cooperation with a global energy expert such as EIPGRID”, and stated that this commitment would foster a new level of cooperation between Thailand and Korea, facilitating the commercialization of new functionalities and jointly developed solutions from the lab.
