Patent for Demand Management System for the operation of small hydropower generation using aquaculture effluent (as a DER)

Nov 18, 2020

We acquired a patent for a Demand Management System for the operation of small hydropower generation using aquaculture effluent as a distributed energy resource (hereinafter “DER”).

Through signing a business agreement for cooperation in the energy field with Shinhwa S&C Co., we co-applied for a patent early this year. The patent allows the utilization of a hydropower generator that produces electricity using fish farm discharge water, as well as efficient operation and management of the generated energy through the Energy Management System (hereinafter “EMS”).

Operation of small hydropower generation using aquaculture effluent

Extending the specter of Distributed Energy Resources (hereinafter “DER”) such as PV, ESS, EV, CHP, etc, to hydropower sources through the integrated energy management system VPP platform(EIP) is a meaningful step for DER resource management. By utilizing self-power generation through a small hydropower plant is expected to reduce the cost of existing electricity used in fish farms and at the same time expand them as a resource capable of operation management.
